Your Powergate guide

Set up your Alientech Powergate, send your original file to your tuner and install your tune using your phone.

This guide covers the app-connected Powergate. ECU means your engine control unit; TCU means your transmission control unit, where supported. The app will guide you through the steps for your specific vehicle.

1. Install the app and create your profile

  1. Download Powergate by Alientech from the Apple App Store, Google Play Store or Huawei AppGallery. Start with the official Alientech Powergate page.
  2. Open the app and sign in with your ALIEN_ID, or choose Sign Up to create one.
  3. Complete your profile with your country, name, email address and mobile number, then enter the email verification code when prompted.

2. Pair your Powergate

  1. Connect the OBD cable to your Powergate and plug it into your vehicle's OBDII port.
  2. Enable Bluetooth and the location permissions requested by the app. Keep Wi-Fi or mobile data connected.
  3. Select your Powergate in the app. Check that the serial number matches the one on the back of your device.
  4. Let any device settings or firmware updates finish before continuing. Keep the device connected throughout.

3. Read your original file

  1. Select your vehicle's make, model and matching engine/ECU or supported TCU option.
  2. Connect your battery stabilizer and check that the app's voltage requirements are met.
  3. Follow the ignition prompts: typically ignition on with the engine off. Choose Identify, then Read when offered.
  4. Wait for the read to complete and for the app to confirm the original file has synchronized to the cloud. Your tuner can then access it through their Powergate dashboard.

Keep the app connected until the upload finishes. A completed read and a completed cloud upload are separate steps.

4. Receive and write your tune

  1. Wait for your tuner to assign the modified file to your Powergate profile. Check the app for the available tune.
  2. Reconnect Powergate to the same vehicle, connect your battery stabilizer and follow the ignition instructions.
  3. Open your vehicle session or Tuning section, select the tune agreed with your tuner and confirm the write.
  4. Allow the write to finish. Do not unplug Powergate, interrupt power or start the engine during programming.
  5. Complete every final on-screen step, including any ignition-off waiting period. Start the engine only when the app tells you to.

Read and write times vary by vehicle and ECU. Follow the app's completion message rather than a fixed countdown.

Need a hand?

If your device will not pair, your tune is missing or an error appears, note the exact message and contact your tuner. If programming is in progress, keep power connected and follow the app's recovery instructions.
